Kathleen “Kathy” Sue Hubers was born on September 8, 1943 to Harold and Helen (Kerkove) Stillwell in Pipestone, Minnesota. She was raised in Pipestone and attended Pipestone High School graduating in 1962. She was married to Bill Alderson on June 24, 1962 and to this union four children were born, Scott, Brenda, Todd, and Shelly. The couple lived on a farm by Holland, Minnesota and they later divorced. On December 20, 1983, she was united in marriage to Harlan Hubers at their home and the couple enjoyed 35+ years of marriage together. Through the years she worked for Jeffries Implement doing bookwork, did taxes for many people, and ran a daycare in her home which included caring for several of her own grandchildren. In her later years she cleaned houses for a time which she loved doing since she was meticulous about a clean house. After a short period of illness spending some time in the hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Kathy entered the care of the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone. She passed away peacefully there surrounded by her family on Friday, June 21, 2019 at the age of 75 years, nine months, and 13 days.
Kathy was a member of Faith Community Church in Pipestone. In previous churches she sang in the choir, was a member of the circles, and also attended Bible Studies for almost her entire life. Through the years she volunteered at Good Sam, was involved with Atlas for Life, and helped with the community garden tours. Kathy enjoyed taking care of her home, especially outdoors. She kept her lawn well mowed and took pride in her flowers. Through the early years of Kathy and Harlan’s marriage, Kathy enjoyed riding along with Harlan in his truck. She did so until Carly was born and then a new passion began in her life: taking care of her grandkids. She would always drop anything for them! Kathy’s faith was very important to her and she showed this in the love she showed others!
Kathy is lovingly remembered by her husband, Harlan of Pipestone; four children, Scott (significant other, Dawn Johnson) Alderson of Holland, Minnesota, Brenda Kellen of Pipestone, Todd (Jenny) Alderson of Lake Benton, Minnesota, and Shelly Gylling of Holland, Minnesota; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Barbara (Darwin) Raschke of Pipestone; and her special four-legged companion, her dog, Cooper. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Helen.
