Kelley Selken was born January 4, 1963 to Ron and Marge (Kuehl) Selken in Pipestone, Minnesota. He was baptized at the Verdi Methodist Church. He grew up in Verdi, Minnesota and graduated from Verdi High School in 1982. Kelley enjoyed working on the farm for his Grandpa Charles Kuehl and Uncle Dick Kuehl, and Uncle Walt and Aunt Dort Henningsen. He worked for the J&B Group for the last 23 years as a forklift operator in the freezer. Kelley had cared for his mom until the time of her death in 2017. Kelley was diagnosed with cancer in August of 2017. On May 15, 2018 he died at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 55.
Kelley was an avid race car fan. Dale Ernhardt #8 was his favorite driver. He also enjoyed Vikings football and was a collector of wolves. He enjoyed time with his nieces and nephews and attending their events. He loved auction sales.
Kelley is lovingly remembered by his sisters, Kris (Roland) Roelfs of Sibley, Iowa and Vicky (Craig) Halverson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; nieces and nephews, Stacey Lichtsinn-Schmidt, Sarah Lichtsinn, Samantha Halverson, Daniel Halverson, and Shawn Schmidt; childhood friend, Sue Hansen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ron Selken and Marge Selken; grandparents, Charles and Arlene Kuehl, and George and Clara Selken; and many aunts, uncles, and other family.
