KENT EUGENE SCHNELL was born on July 16, 1966, to Floyd and Elva (Freeman) Schnell in Tyler, Minnesota. He was raised and attended school in Pipestone, Minnesota. Following his education, he moved with his family to Sacramento, California where he worked with his sister, Linda for approximately 15 years. He returned to Pipestone with his family and resided in the house he was raised in until 2018.
While living at his home, he raised a lovely garden of tomatoes, rhubarb, and countless flowers. He also loved to talk with friends all over the world on his CB radio. Kent, or “Flip,” as many knew him by, was a special person to everyone he met. He had no trouble striking up a conversation and would go on to remember not only names, but the smallest detail about each acquaintance. Kent had an empathetic heart and genuinely cared for the well-being of everyone he knew. On his local outings, he enjoyed playing pull tabs and sharing company with his friends over refreshments. He was a dedicated member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and always advocated for attending church. On many Sundays, he appreciated an early morning ride to church with the Pastor and would help with any preparations in the hours prior to the service. He was also blessed with wonderful support from his classmates that took him under their wing.
Kent will be remembered by his siblings, Linda Houck (Mike Marlow), Craig, Twyla (Ray) Davis, Regina, Ricky, and Kim; nephew, Gregory Davis; step-nephews, Bob Houck, Eddy Houck, and Anthony Houck; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant siblings, Gary and Wayne; brother, Stewart; brother-in-law, Bob Houck; and beloved feline companion of many years, Oscar.
