Lawrence Edward Taveirne, Jr. (fondly nicknamed 'Koke' by his maternal grandfather) was born on August 26, 1943 in Ghent, Minnesota to Donna (Blanchette) and Lawrence Taveirne, Sr.
Koke grew up in the Marshall, Minnesota area, attended Holy Redeemer Catholic School, and loved to spend time with his maternal grandfather, Donald Blanchette. When he was younger, he worked full-time at Breyfogle Autos and part-time for his best friend, Woody Hanson, at Marshall Theater. He also drove school buses at one time and ran his own automobile business for many years after that. He worked all the way up until his death. Koke's trademark was that he had nicknames for everyone he knew- family and friends alike. He immensely enjoyed going to car races and was one of the most acclaimed auto body painters in the Southern Minnesota area. He also loved to tell stories. As a dog lover his entire life, he was especially fond of his beloved, now-deceased bloodhound, Bouser. Koke will be remembered by those who knew him as a great story teller and a very funny as well as unique person.
