Laural L. Anderson

LAUREL LYNN ANDERSON was born November 23, 1946 to John and Viola (Gibson) Westerbur in Luverne, Minnesota. She attended and graduated from Luverne High School in 1964. On September 16, 1978 she was united in marriage to James (Jim) Anderson in Luverne, Minnesota. The couple resided in Luverne. Laurel worked as a bookkeeper and a waitress. In 2002, the couple purchased and ran South Dakota Transport Services in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They both retired in 2010. After Jim’s death in December 2013, Laurel moved to Sioux Falls to live with her friend Mary O’Connell. Laurel’s final home was at Bethany Home in Brandon, South Dakota; She died there peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the age of 70 years and 28 days.

Jim and Laurel were avid bikers and were members of the Goldwing Road Riders Association. They also enjoyed meeting friends and riding bikes together. Laurel also enjoyed cooking, collecting cookbooks from all over and reading cookbooks from cover to cover. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Laurel is survived by her step-children, Ralph (Jane) Anderson of Worthington, Minnesota, Dawn Anderson of Adrian, Minnesota, April Anderson of Worthington, and Michael (Shannon) Anderson of Sibley, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Erika, Tyler, Dylan, Paige, Blake, Lauren, Courtney and Harley; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Violet; siblings, Ron (Bobbie) Westerbur of Mt. Iron, Minnesota, Glen Westerbur of Lincoln, Nebraska, Lee Ann (Burton) Vermeer of Valley Springs, South Dakota, and Linda (Rick) Johnson of Fergus Falls, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Anderson; and parents, John and Viola Westerbur.
