Lisa Lynn Smidt

LISA LYNN (WALHOF) SMIDT was born on January 18, 1967 to Chuck and Carol (Bolluyt) Walhof in Pipestone, Minnesota. She was baptized at the First Reformed Church of Edgerton. She attended school at Edgerton Christian in Edgerton, Minnesota. In 2006, she was baptized again as an adult. Following her graduation in 1985, she attended CTU in Bellevue and in September of 2014 received a Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Science. On June 16, 2012, she was united in marriage to Douglas Smidt in Ihlen, Minnesota. After their marriage she worked at the Turner County Courthouse, at Avera McGreevey, the Boys and Girls Club of Moody County, South Dakota, and at Discovery Benefits. Lisa passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at the Avera McKennan Hospital at the age of 51 years, six months, and six days.

Lisa was a person who loved to sing, as a child and young woman she sang with her father and sisters in the Walhof Family Singing Group. She also loved going fishing with Doug through the years.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Doug Smidt of Egan, South Dakota; her children, Chelsey, Kassie, Marissa (Darin) Stoecker, and Jason; one step-son, Gavin; her five grandchildren, C.J, Alyce, Lucas, Brantley and Ryker; her mother, Carol and her husband Jim Schulze of Edgerton, Minnesota; two sisters, Staci Walhof of Johnson City, TN and Jodi Walhof of Fulda, Minnesota; two nephews and six nieces. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Walhof; and grandparents, Allen and Bertha Bolluyt and Herman and Florence Walhof.
