Lisa Schaeuble

Lisa Faye Schaeuble was born on April 24, 1966 to Raymond and Delores (Rattenborg) Schaeuble in Battle Creek, Iowa. She was baptized in 1966 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ida Grove, Iowa. Lisa attended Kuemper High School in Carroll, Iowa for two years and then transferred to Carroll High School graduating in the class of 1984. After high school, Lisa then attended Stewarts School of Hairstyling in Sioux City, Iowa graduating in 1987. On June 17th 1989 she was married to Scott Dougherty at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. After their marriage, the couple moved to Vermillion, South Dakota where they started their family.

In that marriage, they had 4 children, which Lisa would say was the 4 best things that happened to her in her entire life. When she became a mom, all her love was poured into her children. Even during difficult times, she always made sure her children came first. As her kids grew older, so did their friend circles, meaning Lisa had more children around to love like her own. Every slumber party or play date was an extravagant occasion, with enough home-cooked dinners to feed an army & all the yummy treats. Lisa always found a way to make even the smallest occasions extra special.

In 2013, she became a grandma for the first time, and loved wearing the new title of the young "cool & hip" grandma. Lisa enjoyed gardening, music and random "spur-of-the-moment" dance parties (especially with her grandkids). She also loved anything involving arts & crafts, making delicious home-cooked meals, & attending all of her kids & grandkids events. You knew when Lisa attended as she always cheered the loudest.

Lisa has always had a spunky personality, which only increased as the years went by. She was always keeping her mom, dad & 9 siblings on their toes and they will always remember her contagious laugh and her many kisses and warm hugs to welcome family and friends. Growing up, her many siblings and their families would often take advantage of her hairstyling talents and the family kitchen was often a haircut and perm central station.

On February 10, 2025, Lisa was admitted to Pipestone County Medical Center where she died on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at the age of 58 years after a hard fought battle with glioblastoma.

Lisa is lovingly remembered by her children, Chelsea Dougherty, Chris Dougherty, Carter Dougherty and Courtney Dougherty, all of Pipestone, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Bentleigh, Jaxon, Zaylee, Brixton, & her newest granddaughter, Faye, expected July of this year, her mother, Delores Schaeuble of Sioux City, Iowa; her siblings, Mike (Terri) Schaeuble of Bloomington, Indiana, Susan (Jim) Espinoza of Jefferson, Iowa, Gary Schaeuble of Sioux City, Iowa, Kevin (Shelly) Schaeuble of Kingsley, Iowa, Terry Schaeuble of Lake View, Iowa, Tracey (Danny) Pick of Sioux City, Iowa and Melissa (Randy) Stitz of Franklinton, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Schaeuble and two brothers, Richard and Allan Schaeuble.

The family would like to offer their heartfelt thanks to the health care team that helped us navigate the last 3 months including: nurses, aids, doctors, physical therapists, clinical pharmacists, social workers & clergy. This road would have been unbearable without their guidance & support. Special mention to the staff of Pipestone Hospital, Pipestone Hospice, Brain & Neuro floor of Avera Sioux Falls, Avera Helicopter Team, Dr Zephier, Dr Mora & Dr Wilkinson of Pipestone, Dr Rwoot Reshi of Avera Sioux Falls, Msgr Kosse, & finally, her little sister Tracey, who was there from beginning to end at the front lines for her big sissy, being her biggest and MOST fierce advocate."
