LOIS JEAN HAARSMA was born on August 19, 1931 to Irving Clarence and Mabel Nellie (Hoeft) Partridge at their home in Sioux City, Iowa where she was raised and attended school. She continued her education at Central High School in Sioux City. After her schooling, she began working at the telephone company in Sioux City. On February 28, 1953, Lois was united in marriage to Raymond Peter Haarsma in Sioux City. Following their marriage, they moved to a farm near Holland, Minnesota where they lived and farmed his parent's farm. Raymond preceded Lois in death on June 12, 2007. She remained living at home until her death on Monday, April 7, 2014, at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 19 days.
Lois was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Holland where she was active on the Cradle Roll Committee, the co-chair of the Funeral Committee and the prayer chain. Lois was also a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Some of Lois' hobbies included crocheting, gardening, cooking and watching the Minnesota Twins.
Lois is survived by her children, Dennis Raymond of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Pamela Jo (Marlyn) Kuyper of Holland, Minnesota, Scott Alan (Joyce Ellgin) of Holland, Minnesota, Brenda Joy Haarsma of Holland, Minnesota and Robert Howard (Kris) of London, Kentucky; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Betty June (Veryln) Prestage of San Diego, California and Maxine Rose Norman of Lake Crystal, Minnesota. She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her parents; one brother; and 2 great-grandchildren.
