Lois Joyce Trout was born September 28, 1933 to Arthur and Rose (Gudmundson) Rasmussen in Russell, Minnesota. She was baptized and later confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Russell. She attended school in Russell, graduating from Russell High School in 1951. On March 16, 1952 Lois married Stanley Pochardt. Their union was blessed with two children, Grant and Cindy. She was a telephone operator and drape seamstress, and in 1967 she opened the Polar Bar in Ruthton, Minnesota, which she owned and operated many years. She was a very good bartender, and a friend to all. She had a big heart and helped many people. On July 2, 1977 Lois married George Trout. They had a wonderful life together until George passed away on March 6, 1991. Lois continued to live in Ruthton until later that year when she moved to Lake Shetek. She loved her lake home and friends. On November 17, 2014 she entered the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Tyler, Minnesota. On Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015 Lois passed away at Tyler Healthcare Center at the age of 81.
Lois was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Ruthton. She enjoyed watching westerns and game shows, playing cards, watching birds, baking and cooking. She loved hosting events, and was a real dog lover, treating them with kindness.
Lois will be missed dearly by her children, Grant (Evelyn) Pochardt of Stewartville, Minnesota and Cindy Udstuen of Ruthton, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Carrie (Chad) Kesteloot, Marilee (Rob) Theobald, and Tracy (Kevin) Toft; four great-grandchildren, Chelby, Colby, and Carli Kesteloot, and Julia Toft; a brother, Delwood (Anita) Rasmussen of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Trout; her parents; three brothers, Clifford, Clinton, and Darwin Rasmussen; son-in-law Charles Udstuen; and her pets, Muggs and Maggie.
