Lorraine Helen Buffington

LORRAINE HELEN BUFFINGTON was born on February 19, 1919 to Henry and Mary (Scheuring) Agnitsch in Ihlen, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic church. Lorraine received her education in Ihlen and Pipestone, Minnesota. Upon completion of her education, she held a variety of jobs including Soil and Water conservation and her most enjoyable being the Deputy Court Clerk in Pipestone. On June 11, 1939, Lorraine was united in marriage to Donald Buffington in Pipestone. They made their home in Pipestone where they raised their two daughters. Donald preceded her in death on July 20, 1978. Lorraine remained in Pipestone until January 26, 2015 when she was admitted in to the Pipestone County Medical Center. On Thursday, January 29, 2015, she moved into the Pipestone County Hospice House where she died on Thursday, February 12, 2015, seven days before her 96th birthday.

Lorraine was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Pipestone. When Lorraine was in school, she was very proud to be the county spelling bee champion. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, cooking, baking, reading and her morning crossword puzzles. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they all brought her such great joy.

She is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Joyce (Barry) Trautman of Fredricksburg, Texas and Janelle (Duane) Hess of Pipestone, Minnesota; grandchildren, Michele and Andrew Miller of Auckland, New Zealand, Michael Trautman of San Antonio, Texas, Scott and Jennifer Hess of Palo Alto, California, Jennifer and Rodney Zupp of Pipestone, Barry and Jesse Hess of Owatonna, Minnesota and Kalli Hess of St. Paul, Minnesota; great-grandchildren, Keith, Blake and Jillian Miller of Auckland, Catheryn and Caroline Trautman of San Antonio, Gregory and Kevin Hess of Palo Alto, Nathanael, Lucas and Joshua Zupp of Pipestone and Ava, Cora and Emma Hess of Owatonna; two sisters, Margaret Kiesow of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and LaVonne Thomas of Flandreau, South Dakota; and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents; and four brothers, Joseph, Alfred, Norbert and Leon.
