Louis Leroy Laackmann

Louis Leroy Laackmann was born on June 2, 1932 in Doon, Iowa to Louis and Gertrude (Mann) Laackmann. He enlisted in the United States Army on January 12, 1953 and served in the Korean War. On February 19, 1954, Louis was united in marriage to Mary Louise Kirk. On December 9, 1954, Louis received his honorable discharge from the military.  He found great satisfaction in his career painting firetrucks and ambulances. On Sunday, September 10, 2023, Louis passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side.

Louis was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. He took great pride in his family, service to America, and his religion.

Louis is survived by his wife, Mary Laackman of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; three children, Jeff (Karla) Laackmann of Luverne, Lona (Ron) Wacker of Eagan, Minnesota, and Letha Gause of Yankton, South Dakota; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Gertrude Laackman, and son-in-law Keith Gause.
