Louise Marie Johnson was born May 22, 1937 to Camille and Marie (Bakker) Polle in Tyler, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Dionysius Catholic Church in Tyler, and grew up on the family farm in Shelburne Township near Florence, Minnesota. She attended school in Tyler for one year, then transferred to Faribault School for the Deaf, graduating in 1959. She helped on the farm until 1963 when she moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, where she worked at Padco Paint Company in South St. Paul for ten years. During that time Louise met Gilbert Johnson at Mickey’s Diner in St. Paul. The couple was united in marriage in1967 in St. Paul. In 1989 Louise moved back to Tyler to help care for her father. Following his death, she helped her brother, Victor, operate the farm. In November 2010, as the result of a fall, she became a resident of Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Tyler. Louise entered Tyler Healthcare Center on January 14 where she died four days later on January 18, 2011 at the age of 73 years, 7 months, and 27 days.
Louise was a member of St. Dionysius Catholic Church, and was part of a fellowship out of Marshall, Minnesota that ministered to the deaf . She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, cooking, and especially time spent with her family.
Louise is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Karen Johnson of Tyler, Minnesota; two grandsons, Christopher (and Victoria) Knight and their children, Mason, Madison, and Makayla of Faribault, Minnesota, and Derrick Whiting of Tyler, Minnesota; a brother, Victor Polle of Florence, Minnesota; family friend, Mary Mueller of Tyler, Minnesota; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings.
