LOWELL WAYNE ROSENKJAR was born on September 21, 1919 to Axel and Rebecca (Leetch) Rosenkjar in Holstein, Iowa. He grew up in Iowa, South Dakota and Minnesota. Lowell received his education through the 8th grade. After his schooling, he helped on the family farm. In 1942, Lowell enlisted into the United States Army where he served in WWII; he was discharged in 1945 and returned to Minnesota where he continued farming. On September 22, 1946, Lowell was united in marriage to Clarice Gottsch at Peace United Methodist Church in Pipestone, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they farmed near Holland, Minnesota for several years before moving closer to Pipestone where they farmed until their retirement. At that time, they moved into Pipestone where they resided until 2009 when they moved into Falls Landing. In 2010, Lowell moved into the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone where he died on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at the age of 94 years, 11 months and 11 days.
Lowell was a member of Peace United Methodist Church in Pipestone where he enjoyed teaching Sunday school. He was a member of the Earl Gruis American Legion Post #534 in Holland, Minnesota. He enjoyed hunting, reading and walking around town and visiting.
Lowell is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Linda (Jim) Talsma of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota; one sister, Verna (Gene) Pauley of Golden Valley, Minnesota; and three nephews: Steve, Jeff and Tim. He is preceded in death by his wife, Clarice in July of 2014 and one grandson, Aaron Talsma in 1979.
