\MADELEINE MARIA DE RYCKE was born on January 21, 1919 to parents Albert and Alma (Overmeire) Deyne in St. Laereins, Belgium. She was baptized into the Catholic faith in Maldegem. Madeleine received her education in Maldegem. After her schooling, she worked as a waitress at various jobs.
On July 13, 1940, she was united in marriage to Cyriel De Rycke in Maldegem at St. Barbara Catholic Church. Following their marriage, they continued to live in Maldegem until 1948 when they moved to Heist Aan Zee, located on the North Sea. In September of 1952, Madeleine and Cyriel, along with their son Eric; age 10, left Belgium for the United States. Once in Pipestone, their son Mark was born some years later.
Madeleine worked at Armours Creamery until it closed. She began working at the courthouse as a custodian until her retirement.
Madeleine was a member of the St. Leo Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, and the St. Leo Church Choir. She enjoyed planting flowers, fishing, bird watching and feeding turkeys. To their family, Cyriel and Madeleine were the pillars of the De Rycke family.
Madeleine died peacefully on July 3, 2013, at her home at the age of 94 years.
Madeleine is survived by her sons: Eric De Rycke and his fianc Valencia Martin of Pipestone, MN and Mark De Rycke and his wife Cindy of Pipestone, MN, grandchildren: Erica De Rycke of Brookings, SD, Melissa De Rycke of Rochester, MN and Taya De Rycke of Pipestone, MN and great-grandchildren Tempest and Dante De Rycke of Brookings, SD. She is preceded in death by her husband, Cyriel, her parents, three infant children, one brother Omer Deyne and one sister Rosanna Delcourt.
