MARCIE ANN DEZEEUW was born on December 4, 1959 to James and Joyce (Voeltz) Kane in Gettysburg, South Dakota. Marcie attended Gettysburg High School and was active in basketball, track, and the drill team. She graduated from Gettysburg in 1978 as the honorary valedictorian. Following her education, Marcie attended South Dakota State University and studied microbiology. She then worked many various jobs, including 3M in Brookings, South Dakota. In 2005, Marcie was united in marriage to William “Bill” DeZeeuw in Brookings. They continued to live there for several years before moving to Holland, Minnesota. After a courageous battle with cancer, Marcie died peacefully in her home on Friday, February 21, 2020 at the age of 60 years, two months, and 17 days.
Marcie was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Holland. She was a hardworking woman that always tried to put the needs of others above her own. Marcie enjoyed creating floor plans for homes, gardening, and landscaping. The time that she enjoyed most was spent with her friends, family, and especially the time spent with her grandchildren. Marcie will always be remembered for her smile and the warmth that she brought into other people’s lives.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Bill of Holland; their children, Kelly Snow of Holland, Amanda Snow of Brookings, Amanda DeZeeuw of Ironton, Minnesota, Chad (Sharon) DeZeeuw of Bloomington, Minnesota, and Corey (Veronica) DeZeeuw of Farmington, Minnesota; nine grandchildren, Shaylee Snow, Dominik Snow, Austin DeZeeuw, Eric Lange, Julian Lange, Emma DeZeeuw, Madelyn DeZeeuw, Ellie DeZeeuw, and Cody DeZeeuw; one sister, Stephanie (Mike) Sanders of Gettysburg; and many other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Samantha Lange; brothers, Jim Kane, Ricky Kane, and Mark Kane; her sister, Kathy Hart; and her parents, James and Joyce.
