MARGARET MAE “PEG” ERICKSON passed Monday October 3rd, 2016. Born in rural Pipestone, MN in 1938 to Herbert & Genieveve Huebner and was the youngest of 7. Peg graduated from Pipestone Central High School. Band was a big part of teenage years. Peg also enjoyed playing board games and cards with family as well as attending dances and roller skating at the Hiawatha. This is where she met her future husband, Loyal Erickson. They were united in marriage March 2nd, 1957 and through their life enjoyed polka music and dancing together. The Erickson's resided in the Jasper, MN area, as well as rural Beaver Creek, MN and Garretson, SD. After raising five children, they returned to Jasper, MN and spent the last decade in Pipestone, MN.
Peg enjoyed getting the family together and through these gatherings, her family grew closer and were taught lessons in how to persevere through life's challenges with determination, hard work, and faith. Peg welcomed all of her extended family and always made them feel special. She is survived by her 5 children, Rhonda Nelson and husband Barry of Duluth, MN, Brad Erickson and wife Jodi of Sioux Falls, Linda Hulstien and husband Bryon of Pipestone, Wayne Erickson and wife Sherry of Superior, WI, and Dennis Erickson and wife Michelle of Valley Springs, SD. Also survived by her siblings Helen, Virgil, and Gordon.
Many of her days were spent crafting. She always had several projects going and some of which were never finished. Peg could be found watching or listening to sporting events and enjoyed being part of her 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren’s lives. Grandma was always their biggest fan. Peg was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Jasper, MN and enjoyed attending Celebrate Community Church of Sioux Falls with family.
Peg was preceded by her husband in 2012, infant granddaughter, 3 brothers Robert, Lyle, and Dale.
