Maria Korthals

MARIA L. KORTHALS was born on December 31, 1971 to Gary and Evelynne (Flietstra) Vanden Berg at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She went to school at Edgerton Christian in Edgerton, Minnesota and then later at Luverne High School in Luverne, Minnesota, where she graduated in 1990. Maria married Darl Korthals in September of 1998 and later divorced in 2008. Maria finished her schooling in Connecticut and completed a degree in Business in May 2020. She returned to Luverne, Minnesota and was presently working at Dakota Performance Solutions in Sioux Falls, SD. Maria died unexpectedly on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at her home at the age of 51 years.

Maria was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Luverne and held a strong faith in the Lord. She always had a smile on her face and was a very positive person. Maria enjoyed scrapbooking and especially loved to spend time with her cat.

Maria is survived by her mother, Evie Vanden Berg of Luverne; her sister, Jennifer Vanden Berg of Luverne; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Gary Vanden Berg; stillborn brother; and paternal and maternal grandparents.
