MARJORIE ANN STAEFFLER was born on September 1, 1925 to Claude and Helen (Willams) Nece on her grandparent’s farm in rural Trosky, Minnesota. She was raised in the county outside of Trosky and attended country school District 42 through the 8th grade, then went on to attend high school in Edgerton, Minnesota and graduated in 1943. On December 6, 1944 Marjorie was united in marriage to Virgil Staeffler at the Methodist Church parsonage in Luverne, Minnesota. The couple made the farm East of Hardwick, Minnesota their life long residence. It was on that farm Marjorie raised chickens and delivered eggs on a Saturday morning route, cooked for all the working men and raised nine children. After the children were out on their own, at age 59, Marjorie decided to get a job in town and went to work at Fey Industries in Edgerton. She retired from there in 2003, just short of twenty years.
On Tuesday, July 21, 2015 while surrounded by her family at the Sanford Luverne Hospital, Marjorie went to be with her Lord at the age of 89 years, 10 months and 20 days.
Marjorie was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Hardwick. She became an adult confirmed member in 1951, and enjoyed the Ladies Circle. She also was a member of the “Hi, Neighbor” Birthday Club made up of ladies from the neighborhood. Marjorie sold Avon and Shaklee products for years and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, her flowers, and raising chickens. She also enjoyed word search books, games of solitaire and playing Bingo. She loved having large family get togethers and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Virgil Staeffler of Hardwick, Minnesota; her children, Geraldine (James) Haraldson of Luverne, Gary (Jean) Staeffler of Luverne, Debra (Daniel) Nelson of Magnolia, Minnesota, Rhonda Edwards of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Rodney (Ruth) Staeffler of Ruthton, Minnesota, Carol (Lance) Stueven of Hudson, Wisconsin, Greg Staeffler of Hardwick and friend Sheryl, and son-in-law, Arlyn (Rose) Vander Beek of Edgerton; 24 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joan Lingbeck of Edina, Minnesota. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Helen Nece; son, Larry Staeffler; daughter, Sandra Vander Beek; two grandsons, Kelly Staeffler and Michael Vander Beek; great-granddaughter, Ashlynn Haraldson; sister, Karla Carroll; and brothers-in-law, George Lingbeck and John Carroll.
