Marjorie Erickson

MARJORIE ANN ERICKSON was born to Oscar Carl and Hazel Vera (Lord) Larson on April 21, 1931 on a farm near Valley Springs, South Dakota where she was raised and received her education. She was baptized in 1931 at Beaver Valley Lutheran Church where she was confirmed in 1947. On September 22, 1950, she was united in marriage to Robert E. Erickson at Beaver Valley Lutheran Church in Valley Springs, South Dakota. Following their marriage, they lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Marj worked for Sunshine Mutual Insurance. In 1951, they moved to Luverne, Minnesota where she worked at Tri State Insurance. Then, in 1953, they moved to a farm in Rock County, Minnesota. They lived and farmed there until 1965 when they moved into Pipestone. Bob preceded Marj in death on April 28, 2011. After his death, Marj moved to Rochester, Minnesota. On Friday, November 1, 2013, she died at the Shorewood Commons Assisted Living in Rochester under hospice care at the age of 82 years, six months and 10 days.

Marj was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone where she was active in the Women's General Assembly and where she sang in the church choir. For over 25 years, she helped deliver Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed sewing, and when her girls were small, she loved to make their dresses which included her three daughters' wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses.

She is lovingly remembered by her four children, Joel Erickson and his wife Vicki of Becker, Minnesota, Sharon Spielman and her husband Roy of Westbrook, Minnesota, LuAnn Remme and her husband Bruce of Rochester, Minnesota, and Lisa Mills and her husband Randy of Rochester, Minnesota; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Polly Christopherson of Tacoma, Washington, and Dorothy Nelson of Las Cruces, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents, Oscar and Hazel; two brothers, Earle and John Larson; and two sisters, Sybil Sonsini and June Palmer.
