Mark W. Verba

MARK WAYNE VERBA was born on December 21, 1981 to Doc and Lori (Raymond) Verba in Mitchell, South Dakota, where he was raised. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith on March 21, 1982 and received his confirmation in May 1996. He attended school and was competitive in football, track and weightlifting. Mark graduated from Mitchell High School in 2000. He furthered his education at Mitchell Technical College and completed his Associates Degree in Communications. Mark then moved to Luverne, Minnesota where he began his career as an installer and technician with the communications company that has become Vast Broadband. He held a knack at being able to troubleshoot almost any problem for his customers. On May 28, 2011, Mark was united in marriage to Nikki Brandt at Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne. They made their home in Luverne and raised their family that included four children. On Monday, December 25, 2017, Mark died unexpectedly at the Sanford Luverne Hospital at the age of 36 years and four days.

Mark enjoyed drag racing cars and throwing darts in both competitive leagues and tournaments. Quite simply, Mark valued his family, friends and service to others. He was always willing to help or offer his support to anyone in his life he came across. His generous and caring spirit will forever live on through the lives of his family, friends and community which he deeply touched.

Mark has touched so many lives in his dart community. He was truly loved by everyone for his Mr. Serious attitude to his goofy smile. He loved being able to help fellow darters who had questions or just if they needed a special coach. He also loved telling his wife what to throw at (for an out) and thought it was hilarious when he would get the look from her saying, 'I know what to do.'

Mark is lovingly remembered by his wife, Nikki; four children, Bailey Jacobsma, Brayden Jacobsma, Zane Verba and Macoy Verba, all of Luverne; parents, Doc and Lori Verba of Mitchell; brother, Michael (Christine) Verba of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; paternal grandmother, Joann Verba of Mitchell; parents-in-law, Gary and Nancy Brandt of Beaver Creek, Minnesota; niece, Tessa Verba; sister-in-law, Kristi Brandt of Beaver Creek; brother-in-law, Justin (Ashleigh) Brandt of Dell Rapids, South Dakota; other relatives and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Junior and Darlene Raymond; and paternal grandfather, Edward Verba and an infant nephew Kye Verba.
