MARLO ANGELINE SANKEY was born to Darriel and Blanche Brouillet on November 30, 1943 in Astoria, Oregon. The following year, she moved with her family to Slayton, Minnesota. A short time later, they moved to Pipestone, Minnesota where she was raised and attended school. After her graduation from Pipestone High School in 1961, she continued her education at Mankato State College in Mankato, Minnesota, and completed her Bachelor of Arts degree. On August 21, 1965, she was united in marriage to Henry Sankey at St. Leo Catholic Church in Pipestone. Following their marriage, they lived in Jasper, Minnesota where Marlo taught school for two years. In 1967, they purchased a home in Pipestone. While living in Pipestone, Marlo taught school in Holland, Minnesota for two years. She then stayed at home, raising their children. On November 22, 2011, she was diagnosed with cancer. On Tuesday, December 4, 2012, she died unexpectedly at the Pipestone County Medical Center at the age of 69 years and four days.
Marlo was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Pipestone. She was an avid reader, and she liked to work on crossword puzzles. For many years, she enjoyed walking around the “square” in Pipestone. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially when they went to Branson, Missouri.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Henry “Hank” Sankey of Pipestone, Minnesota; three children, Jennifer Krych and her husband Jerry of Champlin, Minnesota, Ken Sankey and his wife Tami of Neenah, Wisconsin, and Mark Sankey and his fiancee Debra Frericks of Pipestone, Minnesota; four grandchildren; one brother, Jim Brouillet of Pipestone, Minnesota; two sisters, Joanne Luehmann and her husband Helmuth of Jasper, Minnesota, and Mary Brey and her husband Bill of Watertown, Wisconsin; and her brother-in-law, bob Jones of O’Fallon, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her son, Doug Sankey; her parents; one brother, David Brouillet; and one sister, Jackie Jones.
