Marlyn Faye Eernisse was born April 7, 1940 to James and Theresa (Olivier) Westenberg in Edgerton, Minnesota. She grew up in Edgerton where she was baptized and made her profession of faith all at the American Reformed Church of Edgerton. In 1958, she graduated from Edgerton High School. She was united in marriage to Thelmer “Bud” Eernisse on April 26, 1958 at the American Reformed Church in Luverne, Minnesota. Their union was blessed with three sons, Todd, Kent, and Lyle and 58 years of marriage together. The couple made their home and raised their family in Pipestone, Minnesota. Marlyn had worked at the Thoughtfulness Shop in floral arrangement, secretary for Dr. Pandiscio Optometry, and Wes’s Step EZ Shoe Shop. Marlyn had a talent working with ceramics and taught the art from her home. In February 2010, Marlyn entered the care of Good Samaritan Community of Pipestone. She died there peacefully on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at the age of 76 years.
Marlyn was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Pipestone. She was active in the life of the congregation having served as an elder, Sunday school superintendent, organizing youth group, and VBS. She was a 30 year member of the Hiawatha Club in the costume department and a member of Jaycees for several years. Marlyn enjoyed ceramics, porcelain dolls, reading, flower gardening, going to the lake, and especially time spent with family.
Marlyn is lovingly remembered by her husband, Thelmer “Bud” Eernisse of Pipestone; her three sons, Todd (and Donna) Eernisse of Plymouth, Minnesota, Kent Eernisse of Shoreview, Minnesota, and Lyle Eernisse of Shoreview, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Devin Eernisse and Alex Eernisse both of Plymouth; brothers, Duane (and Bev) Westenberg of St. Germain, Wisconsin, and Kenneth (and Joy) Westenberg of Coon Rapids, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Theresa; siblings, Lester Westenberg and Edith (and Joe) Kempema. Blessed and eternal be her memory.
