Mary Lou Arndt was born to Oren and Rose (Wessels) Anderson on July 28, 1942 near Sheldon, Iowa. She attended country school in Floyd Township until 1953 when her family moved to a farm near Trosky, Minnesota. In 1955 the family moved to a farm near Ruthton, Minnesota. Mary graduated from Ruthton High School in 1960. After graduation she moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota and worked at Prudential Insurance. On September 16, 1962 she was united in married to Albert Arndt, Jr. at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland, Minnesota. Following their marriage Mary worked at Bayliner Marine in Pipestone, Minnesota.
In 1978 the family moved to Jasper, Minnesota and Mary continued to work at Bayliner and then at Jim's Care Cleaners for six and a half years. In 1996 she started working at Jasper Foods and then the Jasper Mini Mall where she was employed for 24 years. In May of 2021 Mary moved in with her sister, Linda in Pipestone. Mary was admitted to the Pipestone County Medical Center and on Monday, December 11, 2023, she passed away peacefully there at the age of 81.
Mary was a member of the Jasper Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed putting puzzles together, reading, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Marsha (Greg) Anderson of Jordan, Minnesota; her son, Daniel Arndt of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota; son-in-law, Loren Larson of Kingman, Arizona; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Diane Lichtsinn of Marshall, Minnesota, Linda Bruns of Pipestone, Minnesota, Lavonne (Herman) Lichtsinn of Lake Benton, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Jr.; infant daughter, Marlys; daughter, Cindy Larson; her parents; two brothers, Orville Anderson and Delbert Anderson; three sisters, Rozella Hunter, Donna Lichtsinn and Eunice Sibson; five brothers-in-law, Orland Hunter, Melvin Lichtsinn, Robert Sibson, Fred Lichtsinn and Gary Bruns; and one sister-in-law, Alvira Anderson.
