Mary L. Townsend

MARY LEE TOWNSEND was born on January 18, 1955, to William Richard and Georgia Lee (Clark) Cooper in Holtville, California. She attended the nearby Helix High School, and completed her education in 1973. Throughout her younger years, she enjoyed hanging out with her sisters at the pool in her polka dot bikini and taking family trips to the ocean. On August 13, 1992, Mary was united in marriage to James Britton Townsend Jr. in Tehachapi, California. Mary began her 20-year career in 1999, with Nevada Ready Mix where she worked as a cement worker. She retired in 2009. In her spare time, she still loved spending time on the water while boating, fishing, or knee boarding. Mary could also often be found relaxing on her porch listening to music or watching the history channel. James preceded Mary in death in 1993. Mary died unexpectedly at her home on Monday, August 16, 2021, at the age of 66 years, six months, and 29 days.

She will be remembered by her son, Lon (Samantha) Kotsala of Lake Benton; two grandchildren, Anthony Lee and Alyssa Lee Kotsala; and siblings, Kathleen Clement, Sylvia Cooper, and Thomas Cooper. She was preceded in death by her husband, James.

According to her wishes, public services will not be held.
