MARY MOFFITT was born to Jacob and Mina (Eggers) Jacobson on July 9, 1927 in Sweet Township, Pipestone County, Minnesota. She grew up on a farm in Sweet Township, attending school at District 35 and Pipestone High School. Upon completion of her education, she became employed at the Pipestone County Courthouse until her marriage to Royal Moffitt on December 24, 1946. After their marriage, they lived in Holland, Minnesota and later on a farm in Sweet Township. Her last and long employment was at Pipestone County Hospital where she worked for a number of years. She became a resident at Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone on May 23, 2022 and died there on January 8, 2023 at the age of 95.
Mary was a member of Christ the King Free Lutheran Church in Pipestone where she belonged to circles and quilted and helped organize funerals. She enjoyed doing hardanger table linens and doilies, knitting, oil painting and watching almost all sports. She especially enjoyed coffee time with her sister and friends. Her family will always remember her cinnamon and orange rolls, cream puffs and chocolate drop cookies. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Pat and her husband, Jim Woelber of Pipestone and twin daughters, Peggy Beck of Appleton, Minnesota and Pam Moffitt of Swea City, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Gail Hachmann of Pipestone. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Mina Jacobson; two brothers, Jay Jacobson and Dale Jacobson; her son-in-law, Terry Beck; and her great-grandchild, A.J. Lueck.
