Maxine Haraldson

March 18, 1918 — January 22, 2012

MAXINE HARALDSON was born to Ole and Ida (Olson) Kopren on March 18, 1918 on a farm near Sherman, South Dakota. When she was a young child, she moved with her parents into Sherman where she attended school. On January 10, 1935, she was united in marriage to Roy Milton Haraldson in Luverne, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they farmed in the area by Jasper, Minnesota. After their retirement, they moved to Pipestone, Minnesota. Roy preceded Maxine in death on May 30, 1993. In January, 1994, Maxine moved to the Clinic Apartments in Jasper. Then, in June, 2002, she moved into Sunrise Village in Jasper. On May 11, 2010, she became a resident of Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, Minnesota. She died there on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at the age of 93 years, ten months and four days.

Maxine was a member of Rose Dell Lutheran Church in Jasper. When the church closed, she became a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Luverne. She loved to make quilts, and she made a handmade quilt for each of her children, as well as her grandchildren. She also embroidered many towels. She enjoyed canning pickles. While a resident of Tuff Nursing Home, she enjoyed playing cards, especially “Kings In A Corner” with her daughter. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her delicious sugar cookies, as well as for her homemade lefse.

She is lovingly remembered by her four children, Janet and her husband Arnold DeSchepper of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Robert and his wife Sally Haraldson of Bloomington, Minnesota, Richard and his wife Mary Haraldson of Apple Valley, Minnesota and Dean Haraldson of Jasper, Minnesota; her daughter-in-law, Beverly Haraldson of Luverne, Minnesota; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Dean Kopren of Minooka, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; her son, Gordon; an infant son; her parents; three brothers, Arden, Irvin and Earl Kopren; and two sisters, Sylva Sorenson and Genevieve Hieneman.
