Mildred Amelia (Reese) Fink...
was born on March 16, 1924 to Fred and Hulda (Pahl) Reese in Murray County, Minnesota. She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Woodstock, Minnesota in 1924, and was also confirmed there in 1938. During her youth, she lived on a farm in Pipestone County near Woodstock. She graduated from Pipestone High School in 1941 and then continued her education at Mankato State Teachers College and graduated in 1943. Thereafter, she taught at a country school in Pipestone County, Minnesota. On September 3, 1944, she was joined in marriage to Raymond Fink at St. Paul Lutheran Church parsonage in Pipestone. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Sharon, Marlys, Jane, and Steven. The couple farmed in Lake Benton, Minnesota for over 49 years. In 1996, they retired to Pipestone. In 2007, after the death of her husband, Mildred moved to the Seattle, Washington area where she resided at University House, a retirement community in Issaquah until shortly before her death. On Tuesday, November 12, 2013, Mildred passed away peacefully at Grace Senior Care, Adult Family Home in Issaquah, Washington at the age of 89 years, 7 months, and 26 days.
Mildred was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake Benton, Minnesota where she had been a Sunday School teacher and an active member of the Dorcas Society. She was actively involved with the family farm and loved farm life. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, traveling, and spending time with family.
She is survived by daughters, Sharon Grossbach (Vincent) Augenstein of Snoqualmie, Washington, Marlys Sparr of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, and Jane (Robert) King of New Haven, Connecticut; four grandchildren, Christopher (Joanne) Grossbach, Carrie Grossbach, Sandra (Derek) Boetcher, and Michael Sparr; two step-grandchildren, Sherry Augenstein, and Darren Augenstein; seven nieces and nephews; and many friends in Minnesota and Washington.
Mildred is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Raymond; her brother, Clifford Reese; her son, Steven Fink; and her son-in-law, Lowell Grossbach.
