Muriel Grace Wait…
was born to August and Elizabeth (Wilson) Tetzlaff on March 1, 1920 at home in Hayti, South Dakota where she was raised and received her education. In 1938, she graduated from Hayti High School. On August 1, 1940, she was united in marriage to Clyde Wait in Waterloo, Iowa. Following their marriage, they farmed near Hayti until 1957 when they moved to Pipestone, Minnesota. Then, in 1958, they bought the A & W Drive Inn which they owned until 1972. Clyde preceded her in death on February 28, 1971. After his death, she remained in Pipestone. On March 5, 2008, she became a resident at Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone where she died on Monday, December 29, 2014 at the age of 94 years, nine months and 28 days.
Muriel was a member of First Lutheran Church in Pipestone where she was a member of the Peace circle. She volunteered for many different organizations. She enjoyed doing ceramics, embroidering and bowling. After Clyde’s death, she enjoyed traveling with friends.
She is lovingly remembered by her three children, Sheryl and his wife Sonjia Wait of Ihlen, Minnesota, Dallas and his wife Rena of St. Michael, Minnesota and Mary and her husband Steve Quissell of Rapid City, South Dakota; five grandchildren, Allison (Ryan) Wait Boes, Brian (Lisa) Quissell , Wende (Kevin) Hughes, Melissa Wait, and Ryann Wait; and two great-grandchildren, Tatum and Oakley Hughes. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three sisters; and one brother.
