MYRNA BORMAN was born to Siemen and Bertha (Bartels) Smidt on February 22, 1923 on a farm in Osborne Township and then moved to a farm in Elmer Township in Pipestone County where she was raised. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Edgerton, Minnesota. Myrna attended Country School District 19 through the eighth grade. She then attended Edgerton High School. After her graduation, she worked at the Ben Franklin Store in Pipestone. Myrna married Clarence L. Borman on September 22, 1944 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Edgerton. They purchased and made their home on a farm north of Holland, Minnesota in Fountain Prairie Township where they lived and farmed for over 60 years. On Thursday, September 26, 2013, Myrna died at the Pipestone County Medical Center at the age of 90 years, seven months and four days.
Myrna attended St. James Lutheran Church in Holland where she was involved in the choir, the women's circle, Christian Women's League, the annual church supper and various other church activities. She enjoyed working outside planting and caring for her flowers, mowing the lawn, canning, baking and spending time caring for her family.
Myrna is survived by her children, David (Sue) Borman of Holland, Minnesota, Dale (Shel) Borman of Holland, Minnesota and Diane (David) Scotting of Pipestone, Minnesota; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Wallace (Jeanette) Smidt of Pipestone, Minnesota, Edward (Gloria) Smidt of Pipestone, Minnesota, Lorraine Scheerhoorn of Pipestone, Minnesota and Dorothy (Ted) Kueker of Rochester, Minnesota; and nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; her grandson, Nathan Scotting; her parents, Siemen and Bertha; her sister, Marvella Zarn; and two brothers-in-law, Lee Scheerhoorn and Darwin Zarn.
