Norma Jean Burdick was born November 7, 1938 to Fred and Pearl (Davis) Rust in Hendricks, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Peace Evangelical and Reformed Church in Elkton, South Dakota. She grew up in Thomsenburg, a neighborhood near Hendricks, and attended Hendricks School District #29 through grade six and completed the eighth grade at Hendricks Public School. In 1957, Norma moved to Austin, Minnesota to live with relatives, where she met her husband Richard G. Burdick. On July 15, 1957 Norma married Richard at the Assembly of God Church in Austin, Minnesota. Their union was blessed with 38 years of life together. The couple lived in Austin, and in 1966 moved to Owatonna, Minnesota. In 1980, they moved to Lake Benton, Minnesota. Richard died in 1996, and Norma continued to make her home in Lake Benton until becoming a resident of the Hendricks Nursing Home in June 2012. Norma died there and went home to her Lord and Savior on August 31, 2015 at the age of 76 years, 9 months, and 24 days.
Norma was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Benton. She was a social individual who enjoyed visiting with friends, talking on the phone, sitting in the flower garden, as well as playing cards, bingo, and dice with her friends at the nursing home.
Norma is lovingly remembered by numerous relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Pearl Rust and by her husband, Richard.
