Nyla Ardith Buchert, age 87, was born to Clifford and Doris Ruth (Holmstead) Buchert on November 16, 1937 at her home near Milroy, Minnesota. Nyla was delivered by her aunt who was a midwife. Her family later moved to Russell, Minnesota where she was raised with her 10 siblings. Nyla was baptized at Russell Baptist Church at 12 years old. She eventually met Louis and had a son, Michael (deceased at eight years old), later met Gordon VanLerberghe and was blessed with four children. Later in years, she met Edwin Ewald. After they went their separate ways, she moved to Pipestone, Minnesota for a time. Then, in June, 2022, she became a resident at Sunrise Manor in Tyler, Minnesota. She died there on Friday, December 20, 2024 at the age of 87 years.
Throughout her life Nyla held different jobs, from nursing, babysitting, candling eggs for the egg plant in Marshall, Minnesota to house cleaning. She loved flowers, nature, and animals. She enjoyed fishing, walking, singing, dancing, playing bingo and other games at Sunrise Manor. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent a lot of time with her great-grandaughter, Nevaeh, coloring and chatting, which was another love of hers. She also enjoyed the many visits with Pastor Frank of the Country Church.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Maria (Shawn) Johnson of Pipestone, Minnesota; her son, Kelly (Jonie) VanLerberghe of Tyler, Minnesota; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Myra Morash and Patricia (Daniel) Tavierne of Russell, Minnesota; two brothers, Bryan (Deb) Buchert and Bruce (Rita) Buchert, both of Russell; and two sisters-in-law, Sue Buchert of Mankato, Minnesota and Sharon Buchert of Albany, Oregon. She was preceded in death her parents, Clifford and Doris; one daughter, Charlotte; two sons, Michael and Ryan; three brothers, Jerold, Kenneth and Curt; three sisters, Susan, Beverly Studeman and Karen Daniels; one sister-in-law, JoAnn; and three brothers-in-law, Orville Studeman, Frenchie Morash and David Daniels.
