On Suvandy

On Suvandy was born August 7, 1934 to Som and Ngae (Buarapha) Sounakhen in Xayaburi, Laos. She grew up in Laos and in 1957, she was united in marriage to Insom Suvandy. Their union was blessed with four children, Bounsaeng, Sam, Vieng, and Bird. Following their marriage, they resided on the farm. In 1975, On and Insom moved to a refugee camp in Thailand. They lived there until 1987 and moved to Sioux City, Iowa. In 1989, the family moved and made their home in Pipestone, Minnesota. While in Pipestone, On cared for the family and their home. Insom died on July 7, 2006. On June 2, 2018, On declined in health and was transferred to Pipestone County Medical Center where she died at the age of 83 years.

On enjoyed gardening, housekeeping, and time spent with her family.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Bounsaeng Suvandy of Pipestone, Sam (and Nattida) Suvandy of Pipestone, Vieng (and Phet) Pxiotxong of Vancouver, Canada, and Bird (and Malaykham) Suvandy of Pipestone, Minnesota; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Insom; parents, Som and Ngae, and three brothers and one sister. Blessed be her memory.
