ORDETH 'ORDY' CARSON KIRBY was born to Dalbert and Elsa (Lange) Michael September 20, 1920 in Pipestone, Minnesota. Ordy was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone. After her graduation from high school in 1938, she worked at Silverberg’s Clothing Store in Pipestone. Ordy married Kenneth “Kit” Carson on November 5, 1940 at her parents’ home in Pipestone. Kit and Ordy made their home on the Carson family farm in Troy Township where they raised four children.

Ordy was a homemaker and known for her good cooking and baking and also being an excellent seamstress. She was a member of the Jr. and Sr. Sorosis Extension Clubs, a 4-H leader with the Troy Toilers 4-H Club, Cradle Roll, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, Elder and Deacon.

Kit and Ordy loved to go fishing and travel after they raised their family. Kit preceded her in death on July 1, 1972. Ordy moved to Pipestone in 1974.

Ordy married Francis Kirby on September 20, 1975, and they lived on a farm near Hardwick, Minnesota until 1989 when they moved to Pipestone. Together they liked to go dancing and traveling. Fran preceded her in death January 8, 1991.

Ordy continued to do some traveling after Fran’s death and loved playing cards. She lived in her own home until 2004 when she moved to Falls Landing in Pipestone. In September, 2010, she became a resident of Riverview Manor in Flandreau, South Dakota. This September she moved to the Pipestone County Hospice House.

Ordy is lovingly remembered by her four children, Bill (Terry) Carson of Pipestone, Barb (Glenn) Bowman of St Cloud, Minnesota, Ginny (Ray) Evans of Pipestone, and Janet (Randy) Sievers of Storm Lake, Iowa, 13 grandchildren – Brad (Kris) Carson, Jon (Dawn) Carson, Lynne Dahl, Craig Dahl, Annette (Thomas Routen) Dahl, Todd (Patty) Evans, Brian (Linda) Evans, Michelle (Chad) Iott, Bruce Evans, Matt (Sharla) Evans, Janelle (George) Busby, Amy (Jeff) Lampman and John (Jami) Sievers, 24 great grandchildren and two great-great grandsons; her sister Daphine (Leonard–deceased) O’Hearn of Lompoc, California, her brother Allan Michael and his wife Jo of Rapid City, South Dakota, sister-in-law Bernice Raatz of Pipestone, sister-in-law Pat Kirby of Hatfield, Minnesota, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two step- daughters, Becky Kirby and Pat Pierson and her husband Wes, and one step- granddaughter, Lanette Schnepf.

Ordy is preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Kit and Fran; her step-daughter Donna Kirby; two step-granddaughters, Suzanne Pierson and Michelle Pierson; and her step-grandson Allen Pierson.
