PAMELA "PAM" SUE LIKNESS was born October 14, 1952 to Maynard and Rudella (Reese) Janssen at the Pipestone County Medical Center. Pam attended Pipestone Jasper High School and graduated in 1970. She married Orvin Likness on April 14, 1973. The couple lived in Ruthton, Minnesota until 1984 when they moved to Pipestone. Pam and her husband loved spending time with their friends, camping and getting into shenanigans. While living in Ruthton, Pam worked at the Buffalo Ridge Locker. After the couple moved, Pam worked at Bayliner in Pipestone. She then began working at the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone for 16 years, making many lifelong friends in the process. Pam was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 1995. Orvin passed away a few years later in 1999. Pam continued to work hard, transitioning her work with the elderly to Falls Landing. She continued to work until 2013, when her MS became too debilitating. Pam lived at home for the next three years before being admitted to the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone on July 25, 2016. As Pam’s health declined, she was placed on hospice care with the help of the Hospice Compassionate Care team on Wednesday, July 18, 2018. Pam passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the age of 65 years, nine months, and 11 days.
Pam was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone, where she expressed her undying faith and love of Jesus. Pam loved to bake and cook, always having a tupperware container sitting on the counter. If there wasn’t a container, it was probably hidden in a cupboard so the kids could’t get into it; that tactic very rarely worked. She also had a great love of sewing, spending many hours mending and creating things with her talent. Pam woke up every morning with a smile on her face and hit the ground running. She took great pride in her work ethic and never complained. The thing that Pam truly loved above everything else was her family. Pam’s face would light up whenever she was able to spend time with her children or grandchildren.
Pam is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Christene (James) Schroeder of Adrian, Minnesota and their two children, Zyandra and Tahj. Her son Matthew (Daphne) Likness of Pipestone, Minnesota and their two children, Harlow and Kopelin; siblings, LuAnn Reber, Larry (Anita) Janssen, Viva (Dave “Red-Eye”) Jagow, Jardene Mccubbins, Jerry Janssen, Sheila Moffitt, Dwayne Janssen, and Brian (Vicki) Janssen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orvin in 1999; parents, Rudella and Maynard Janssen; and infant sister, Verna Lee; a brother-in-law, Jim Reber; and sister-in-law, Jill Janseen.
