Patricia Louise Drietz was born August 14, 1953 to Clem and Rosie (Lozinski) Drietz in Hendricks, Minnesota. She was baptized August 23, 1953, received First Communion May 14, 1961 and later was confirmed all at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lake Benton, Minnesota. She grew up in Lake Benton and graduated from Lake Benton High School in 1972. Following her education she moved to the Twin Cities and lived with her brother Lenny and his family in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. She later moved to her own home in South Minneapolis and worked as a personal care attendant. She then worked at K-Tel, a record store in Southeast Minneapolis in the mail room and on the line. She also worked as a secretary and receptionist at Beco-Helman, a fabric supplier and then as a customer service specialist for Montgomery Wards. Her past 28 years of employment was with US Bank, where she held numerous positions, of which technical support was her most recent duty. On January 22nd, 2011, Patti was diagnosed with multiple cancerous brain tumors. On February 24, 2011, she entered Demar Assisted Living in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. She began hospice care on November 9th and on Sunday, November 27, 2011 she entered her eternal home at the age of 58 years, 3 months and 13 days.
Patti was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church in Coon Rapids and volunteered in the church gift shop. She enjoyed computer games, growing flowers, baking and cooking, playing cards and scrabble, completing jig saw puzzles with family and friends, and visiting casinos and shopping with her former co-worker and great friend Kathy. Patti found much satisfaction in caring for and loving Marrisa, her one and only canine companion, of over 10 years. Patti had a terrific sense of humor, a robust laugh that could be heard in any crowd, a huge heart and unwavering courage right up to her last days. Patti greatly appreciated the helping hand and compassionate care she received through her niece, Bonnie Fuhrman, especially during these past 10 months.
She is lovingly remembered by her mother, Rosie of Lake Benton, Minnesota; siblings, Genny (and Eric) Woratschka of Springfield, Illinois, Ed Drietz of Volga, South Dakota, Lenny (and Pat) Drietz of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Floyd (and Barb) Drietz of Laramie, Wyoming, Cathi Reese of Russell, Minnesota, Don (and Helen) Drietz of Lake Benton, Minnesota, and Mary Sherrill of Garden Grove, California; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Clem Drietz; sister, Betty Meyer; and infant brother, Vernon Drietz. Blessed be her memory!
