PAUL BRIAN WATHEN was born on April 11, 1961, to Cecil and Suzanne (Meuwissen) Wathen in Pipestone, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Leo Catholic Church in Pipestone and attended Pipestone High School where he graduated in 1979. He furthered his education at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall where he studied Business Management. He worked as a truck part salesman throughout his career. He was also a dedicated volunteer for the Lions Eye Bank in South Dakota and Pipestone. Later in his life, Paul relocated to Sioux Falls, South Dakota where he currently resided. He died on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at his home at the age of 60 years and 17 days.
Paul had an appreciation for the outdoors and wildlife and enjoyed time spent hunting for pheasant, deer, and geese in addition to fishing. His hunting partner, a black lab named Molly, held a dear place in his heart. Paul was a passionate Minnesota Vikings fan and loved to golf. He was gifted in the kitchen and enjoyed refining his cooking skills. While a member of the community in Pipestone, he was thankful to have been able to accompany his mother to Christ the King Free Lutheran Church and could never turn down a meal at Dar’s Pizza.
Paul is remembered by his children, Samara of the Twin Cities, Minnesota and Braden of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; siblings, Jane (Phil) Smith of Pella, Iowa, Lori (Randy) Stofferahn of Roberts, Wisconsin, and Dean (Lori) Wathen of Andover, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents.
