Paul Henry Bruemmer of Alexandria, Minnesota, was born September 15, 1933, in Murray County, Minnesota, the son of Henry F. and Julia (Klingbile) Bruemmer. Paul was baptized at home and confirmed on April 20, 1947 at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland, MN. His family moved to Pipestone County, MN where his father farmed. He attended country school and graduated from the 8th grade in Pipestone County, MN. Paul attended the Morris Agriculture School for two years until he returned home to work on his parent’s farm.
On March 21, 1954, Paul was united in marriage to Marlys C. Knutson at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elkton, SD. Paul and Marlys lived on the family farm near Ruthton, MN for many years. Paul worked at various jobs including farming, raising cattle, road construction, and welding in MN and SD. He retired in 2003. Paul enjoyed teaching Sunday school and serving on the church council for many years. Paul was an expert at welding and built snow blowers and many useful items. Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Wendt, and his grandson Aaron Hedin.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Marlys of Alexandria, MN; daughter Paula West and husband Randy of Davenport, IA; daughter Myra Hedin of Blue Springs, MO; son Joey Bruemmer and wife Janet of Long Prairie, MN; granddaughter Mandy Cole and husband Caleb of Bettendorf, IA; grandson Clayton West and wife Mallory of Parkview, IA; granddaughter Katelan Blocker of Davenport, IA; grandson Ira Hedin and wife Rachel of Lenexa, KS; grandson Joshua Bruemmer and wife Anna of Nelson, MN; and granddaughter Jolene Sabrowsky and husband Allen of Long Prairie, MN; great grandchildren Ethan, Madison, and Riley Cole; Lily West; Christopher and Natalie Blocker; Marissa, Kayla, Annalyse, and Arianna Hedin; Robert Jablonski; Alaina, Tyler, and Cailyn Bruemmer; and Noah Sabrowsky.
