Paul Louis Brockberg was born to Paul H. and Alvina (Meyer) Brockberg on July 24, 1931 in Elmer Township, Pipestone County, Minnesota. He attended District #69 Country School until 8th grade and graduated from Pipestone High School in 1950.
In 1954, he married Jean Riffel. They lived on the farm near Trosky, Minnesota and raised their four children. He farmed full-time until 1992. Health issues forced him to semi-retire to his small hobby farm where he enjoyed taking care of his livestock, gardening and attending farm auctions. At this time he also worked part time as a delivery driver for Minnesota West Community College Meats Department.
Due to declining health he was admitted to Pipestone Good Samaritan Home in January 2007, where he lived for nearly 12 years. He made many friends with the staff and residents during his life there. He died peacefully at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 21 days.
Paul was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Trosky his entire life. He was baptized, confirmed and married at St. John’s. He also served as a Sunday School teacher, Church officer and Elder for many years.
He is lovingly remembered by his four children, Jeff (Deb) Brockberg of Pipestone, Gayle Herter of Shorewood, Illinois, Bryan (Janet) Brockberg of Pipestone, and Brenda (Bruce) Bleeker of Shakopee, Minnesota; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his brother, Harold (Irma) of Cedarburg, Wisconsin. Paul is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Alvin, Walter, LeRoy, and Raymond Brockberg; and two sisters, Lore Graphenteen and LaVonne Kollman.
Memorials will be directed to St. John Lutheran Church in Trosky, Minnesota.
