Peggy Ann Schley was born August 17th, 1957 to Marion and Thelma Glidden (Winters) in Windom, MN. She grew up surrounded by many uncles, aunts and cousins in the Windom area. When Peggy was old enough, she began to follow her life’s motto of “Eager to what is good”, by working at the Good Samaritan Home in Windom. Peggy’s unique personality followed that motto all of her life, seeing the beauty in everyone, the earth, plants and pets. Her uniqueness went so far as to secure her GED sometime after leaving school. Peggy’s uniqueness continued through the pets that she had, beginning with a pet mouse that her mom did not know was living in the house, there were sea horses, and even a skunk named Francis. There were several dogs and cats that were rescue animals. When Peggy was a contestant for “Miss Windom” she was asked of her life’s interest, and said she wanted to study art, of which she would spend many hours at her hobby.
On February 24th, 1979, Peggy was married to Dale Schley at Windom Methodist Church. Yes, again unique as that was the only weekend that winter that snow and ice allowed anyone to leave home. Throughout her life, Peggy was employed at several nursing homes, eager to do what is good. Peggy even cared for several people in their private homes. For a time Peggy did child care in the home, where she cared for a young boy who received little love and affection at home. Peggy was cautious in making new friends, she wanted you to show that your friendship was not hollow. One of Peggy’s passions again was creative, putting together a Halloween display that rarely has been rivaled and likely never will be topped. Her goblins, witches and ghouls were made from wire, empty milk jugs and odds and ends from rummage sales and Good Will. One of her treasured possessions was a certificate from the Wabasso Lions, recognizing her talent and ability that she displayed in several yards for all to come and enjoy. Eager to do what is good.
Peggy passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on January 4, 2024 at the Cross Roads Care Center in Worthington, Minnesota at the age of 66 years old.
Peggy is survived by husband Dale, children Jerod (Nisa), Rachel (Jacques) and Samantha (Bryan). Brothers, Doug and Tom; sisters, Angela and Heidi; and many cousins. Grandchildren, Thoradon, Jaytrinagorn, Benu and Rajon. Preceding Peggy in death were her parents; Marion and Thelma Glidden (Winters);Mother in Law, Norma Schley; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.
Blessed be Peggy Schley, always eager to do good.
