Penny Hurley

was born to Fred and Donna (Sandstrom) Wrobleski on October 14, 1957 in Pipestone, Minnesota where she was raised and received her education. On January 18, 1975, she was united in marriage to Michael Hurley in Pipestone. To this union three daughters were born. Following their marriage, she was employed at Fey Industry in Edgerton, Minnesota and later at Hardees Restaurant in Pipestone. When they closed, she worked at Casey’s for several years before she became employed as a janitor for the Pipestone Public School System. In 1999, she again was employed at Fey Industry where she worked until she became a housekeeper at the Calumet Inn in Pipestone. This past year she retired due to her health as she was diagnosed with lung cancer in January, 2011. She recently became a patient under hospice and died at her home on Sunday, November 27, 2011 surrounded by her family at the age of 54 years, one month and 13 days.

Penny enjoyed dancing and camping. She also enjoyed gardening, canning and baking. She liked watching NASCAR races and was an avid Vikings fan. She loved family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Leslie and her husband Jeremiah Rederth, Kelly and her husband Thomas, Jr. Lange and Danielle Hurley and her significant other James Contresceri, Jr., all of Flandreau, South Dakota; her significant other for the past 15 years, Russell “Rusty” Holthaus of Pipestone, Minnesota; one step-daughter, Nicole Holthaus of Pipestone, Minnesota; eight grandchildren, Tiffany Westphal, Tristyn Burke, Adrienne Towne, Dylan Weets, Airean Lange, Aleigha Lange, Lilyannah Contresceri and Lainey Rederth; two step-grandchildren, Ashton Diamante and Adalyn Loger; her father, Fred Wrobleski of Rochester, Minnesota; and her five siblings, Suzanne and her husband Jim Kuyper of Pipestone, Minnesota, Lola and her husband Jim Petersen of Jasper, Minnesota, Sandy and her husband Randy Hendriks of Edgerton, Minnesota, Micky and her husband Ken Swanson of Pipestone, Minnesota and Dana Wrobleski of Pipestone, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her mother, Donna Mae Wrobleski and her grandparents.
