PHYLLIS IONE KASPER was born on November 9, 1924 to Sivert and Britt (Aateigen) Johnson near Slayton, Minnesota. She attended school in Slayton, graduating from high school there. She was united in marriage to Leon “Dude” Kasper on August 12, 1946. Phyllis began working at First National Bank in Pipestone where she started handling safety deposit boxes and then as a teller. Later she moved to the position of receptionist-secretary. She thoroughly enjoyed visiting with all the bank customers! She worked faithfully for 25 years before her retirement. Dude preceded Phyllis in death on June 3, 1995 and Phyllis continued to live in her home in Pipestone. She entered the care of the Pipestone County Hospice House on July 17, 2020 and on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 she passed away peacefully at the age of 95 years, eight months, and 19 days.
Phyllis was a member of First Lutheran Church in Pipestone. She was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. She enjoyed golfing, dancing, playing bridge, and spending her winters in Arizona. She was always proud of her Norwegian heritage. The sign on her doorstep read, "101% Norwegian."
Phyllis is lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews; and one sister-in-law, Donna Cavnahan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dude; her parents; brothers, Ingwald, Melvin, and Harold; and sisters, Ann, Jeanne, Jewel, Signa, Marcy, and Ruby.
