Phyllis 'PK' Helen Kortuem...
was born on October 2, 1940 the last child of Matthew and Helen (Biehn) Kortuem in Mankato, Minnesota. She was raised in Huntley, Minnesota where she attended school. She was baptized and received the sacraments at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winnebago, Minnesota. After her graduation from Huntley High School in 1959, she worked as a telephone operator in Winnebago until she was old enough to apply as a flight attendant. Throughout her career, she worked for several airlines. She lived in Chicago, Illinois, Hopkins, Minnesota and Fairmont, Minnesota. She retired after 38 years with various airlines and remained in the Twin Cities and Fairmont area. In 2011, she moved to the beautiful city of Pipestone, Minnesota to be closer to her sister, Dorothy. She died at her home on Monday, August 11, 2014 at the age of 73 years, ten months and nine days.
Phyllis was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Pipestone and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She enjoyed gardening and raising flowers and nature in all its form. She found enjoyment in early morning walks for exercise and fellowship with Dorothy. She loved all kinds of birds which she attracted to her home. Phyllis loved people. She was a marvelous hostess and always remembered to write letters for every occasion. Many benefited from her very generous spirit and delightful disposition. She was neighborly and would do whatever she could never expecting repayment. She loved life!
She is lovingly remembered by her siblings, Raymond and his wife Yvonne Kortuem of Two Harbors, Minnesota, Richard and his wife Jeanne Kortuem of Winnebago, Minnesota, Dorothy Stoeber of Pipestone, Minnesota and Jerome Matthew Kortuem of Gravette, Arkansas; 16 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Matthew and Helen and one brother, Patrick.
