RAYMOND ELWOOD GORMAN JR. was born October 2, 1950, to Raymond Sr. and Carole (Blum) Gorman in Venango, Pennsylvania. In 1968, he graduated from West Forest High School in Tionesta, Pennsylvania. Following graduation, Ray enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for six years. Two of those years in the service were spent in Vietnam and he was honorably discharged in 1976. After serving his country, Ray was a cross country truck driver where he hauled a variety of cargo. In the early 2000’s Ray moved to Pipestone, Minnesota, where he met Mary Scharfe (Uilk). They were united in marriage on April 15, 2007. He then retired in 2014 and continued trucking for two seasons for Uilk Custom Chopping. Ray passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Society in Pipestone at the age of 71 years and one month.
Ray was a member of the Tidioute Legion Post #0334 in Tidioute, Pennsylvania. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, military movies, planes, and having coffee with his friends. Ray especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family. He was known for having a great sense of humor and being a teaser.
Ray was survived by his wife of 14 years, Mary Gorman of Pipestone, Minnesota; daughters, Marce (Mike) McMahon of Florida and Dana Gorman of North Carolina; step children, Brian (Jessica) Uilk, Kevin (Kim) Uilk, Dan (Casey) Uilk, and Tony (Chrystine) Uilk, all of Pipestone; 12 grandchildren; sister, Irene “Sis” Gorman; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
