Richard Fehl

January 11, 1954 — August 4, 2013

RICHARD MARK FEHL was born on January 11, 1954 in Tyler, Minnesota to Morris and Irene (Wichern) Fehl. He was baptized at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lake Benton, Minnesota. Richard (Rick) attended Lake Benton Public School and graduated in 1972. While in high school, he enjoyed and took pride in his outstanding achievements on the wrestling squad.

From 1972-1978 he worked for the Appleton Silo Co. and the Harvestor Silo Co. of Marshall, MN as well as the Hansen Silo Co. of Luverne, MN. He then attended college at the University of Wisconsin, graduating with a degree in Finance.

Richard returned to Minnesota and farmed with his father. He resided at 614 7th Ave. S. in Brookings, South Dakota. After months of illness, Richard entered The Neighborhoods at Brookview, where he lost his battle to cancer and died with family at his side on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the age of 59.

As an avid reader, he was well read in matters of economics and finance. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a big fan and a faithful follower of the Minnesota Vikings. There was also a special place in his heart for the family dog, Otto.

Richard is lovingly remembered by his parents, Morris and Irene Fehl of Elkton, SD; six brothers: Steven (Billie) Fehl of Oviedo, FL, Gary (Becky) Fehl of Greendale, WI, Randy (Lori) Fehl of Council Bluffs, IA, Tom (Robin) Fehl of Omaha, NE, Jerry Fehl of Omaha, NE, and Jeffrey Fehl of Lake Benton, MN; three sisters: Sherry Fehl of Lake Benton, MN, Teresa (Bill) Bunkers of Lake Benton, MN, and Jeanette (Jayson) Kirmeier of Chanhassen, MN; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Ida Fehl, and John and Edna Wichern; a nephew Derek and a great-nephew William.
