Rick E. Mills

RICK E. MILLS was born on December 17, 1951 to Eugene and Mary (Moon) Mills in Hanford, California. During his early childhood he and his family moved to various places including Kettleman City, California, Spokane, Washington, and Baywood Park, California. The family eventually settled in Felton, California in 1964 where Rick later graduated from San Lorenzo Valley High School. In 1971, Rick was united in marriage to Kathy Brandt. The couple later divorced. Rick’s employment included Lewis Cranes, Everson Brothers Trucking, Inc. and life as an independent truck driver traveling throughout the United Sates and Canada. He most recently resided near Leota, Minnesota while continuing to drive truck. In 2011 Rick was diagnosed with lung cancer. Rick passed away peacefully on Friday, April 13, 2012 after his courageous battle at the age of 60 years, three months and 26 days.

Rick enjoyed his life on the open road driving truck. He also enjoyed song and poetry writing, wood burning art, reading, and playing guitar.

He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Mary Mills of Grants Pass, Oregon; sister, Cheryl and her husband Jack Hartin, nephew, Todd Hartin, niece, Tina Dixon, and grand nieces, Oriona and La Shandra Dixon, all of Grants Pass, Oregon; and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene.

A private family service will be held at a later date in Grants Pass, Oregon.
