Robert "Bob" Timmer

Robert "Bob" Francis Timmer was born to Adolph and Verena (DeMuth) Timmer on September 23, 1938 in Pipestone, Minnesota. He was raised on a farm in Murray County, near Woodstock, Minnesota where he attended school. When he completed the eighth grade, he continued his education in Pipestone, Minnesota. After he graduated from Pipestone High School in 1956, he helped his father on the family farm. On January 15, 1960, he entered the United States Army and served as an ammunitions sergeant in an artillery unit in Germany. He was honorably discharged from the service on December 31, 1962, and returned to the farm near Woodstock. On May 15, 1965, he was united in marriage to Sharon Peterson at St. Martin Catholic Church in Woodstock. Following their marriage, they lived in Pipestone where Bob worked at Gordon Arendt Implement. Shortly after, they moved to Ormsby, Minnesota and Bob worked at the International Harvester Dealership there. Two years later, they moved back to the farm. Sharon preceded him in death in 1980. After her death, Bob became employed at Rupp Construction in Slayton, Minnesota. A year later he began working at Winter Construction in Pipestone. He continued to work there for 16 years. He then became employed for Carstensen Contracting and Global Feeds for a short time. In 2002, he worked for Simplot Grower Solutions hauling fertilizer part-time. Then, in 2003, he became employed for Schmidt Construction out of Redwood Falls, Minnesota. Bob had worked for Double D Gravel Inc. until he retired. On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, Bob passed away at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 2 days.

Bob was a lifetime member of St. Martin Catholic Church in Woodstock. He was also a member of the Herbert Holtke American Legion Post 285 in Lake Wilson, Minnesota. He enjoyed spending his spare time hunting and fishing. Bob had continued to fish until he couldn’t get in and out of the boat, even with the help of the step stool Dan kept in the boat for him.

He is lovingly remembered by his three sons, Daniel Timmer of Woodstock, Minnesota, Robert Timmer of Woodstock, and Paul Timmer of Tyler, Minnesota; one granddaughter, Alexis Krantz of Dell Rapids, South Dakota; three sisters, Rita Lear of Slayton, Minnesota, Carol (Jim) McElroy of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Terri Hoy (Dave Hubbard) of Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon; parents, Adolph and Verena Timmer; and brothers-in-law, Royal Lear and Jim McElroy.
