Robert L. Linnett

Robert Lloyd Linnett was born on July 8, 1934 to Nis and Ailsa (Tromanhauser) Linnett in Diamond Lake Township, Minnesota. He was raised in Lincoln County and graduated from high school. As a child, he enjoyed riding his mini-bike and watching the crane on Lake Benton. On June 22, 1954, Robert was united in marriage to Marjorie Cleaveland at the Reformed Church in Pipestone, Minnesota. The couple made their home on Robert’s father’s farm, where he helped in the farming operation. In 1974, he began driving truck. During his career, Robert drove truck throughout all 48 contiguous states. He retired in May 2001. He then began helping at the burn pile in Tyler. He enjoyed the work and seeing folks as that came and went. Marjorie passed away in October 2008. He continued to live at home and help at the burn pile. In May 2023, Robert became a resident at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Tyler, where on Monday, October 2, 2023, he died peacefully at the age of 89 years, two months and 25 days.

Robert was a member of Tyler Alliance Church. He enjoyed collecting toy trucks and taking boat rides on Lake Benton. He also enjoyed shoveling snow and riding his bike, but not at the same time. He was a man of few words, but always very generous through his actions.

Robert is survived by his three children, Ranae (Dave) Humpal of Indianapolis, Indiana, Russell (Cheryl) Linnett of St. George, Utah, and Janelle (Larry) Propp of West Fargo, North Dakota; four grandchildren, Jason (Jenni) Linnett, Kyle (Marissa) Linnett, Adam Linnett and Daniel Humpal; two great-grandchildren, Liam Linnett and Lorelei Linnett. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie (October 2008); daughter, Connie (August 2020); and parents.
