ROBERT P. RONS, was born on October 13, 1937 to Peter and Josie (Koele) Rons in Sioux County, Iowa. He was raised in Iowa and attended several country schools. He started high school in Sheldon before moving with his family to Tyler, Minnesota in 1952. He became a member of the Ruthton United Methodist Church and later joined the First English Lutheran Church and remained active in the church throughout his life. He graduated from Tyler High School in 1955 and continued working on the farm after graduation. A lifelong farmer, he knew the value of hard work and passed that on to his children. In 1958, he married the love of his life, Una Johnson in Ruthton, Minnesota. Together, the couple lovingly raised four children on their farm. After retiring from farming, a diagnosis of Meniere’s disease slowed him down in his later years. On December 26, 2022,
Bob passed away at Avera Tyler Hospital at the age of 85 years, 2 months, and 13 days.
Bob is lovingly remembered by his family for his sense of humor, something he loved to share with all of his friends and family. He really enjoyed getting together with his coffee buddies in Tyler to share his wisdom and a few laughs. Prior to his diagnosis, Bob enjoyed golfing and traveling. He also enjoyed woodworking and was a very gifted and talented craftsman. Over the years, he built many things from walking canes and goblets to wooden bowls and furniture. He even built the urn that will hold his ashes.
Robert is lovingly remembered by his wife, Una of Tyler; children, Wayne (Charleen) Rons of Lakeville, Minnesota, David Rons of Central City, Nebraska, Brenda (James) Skare of Clearwater, Minnesota, and Betty (Timothy) Henline of Buffalo, Minnesota; grandchildren, Dana (Mike) Haney, Nathan Rons, and Luke Henline; and great-grandchildren, Audrie Haney, Odin Haney, and Evyana Haney. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Josie and his sister, Joann Oltmans.
