ROBERT LEE SCHULZE was born to Alfred and Alice (Meyer) Schulze on November 9, 1934 in Pipestone, Minnesota. On December 2, 1934, he was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone and confirmed on March 21, 1948 at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland, Minnesota. He lived with his family in Fulda, Minnesota where he attended school until grade 2. He then moved with his family to a farm north of Holland. He continued his education in District 63 and attended high school at Ruthton High School in Ruthton, Minnesota, graduating on May 27, 1952. For a short time, he worked for Barnes Sand and Gravel. On September 16, 1956, he was united in marriage to Janice Raschke at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland. From 1956 to 1961, he served in the National Guard where he trained for six months at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri. Following their marriage, they lived in Pipestone where he became employed at Pan-O-Gold Bakery and continued to farm. In 1966, they moved to their farm north of Holland where they currently reside. On July 9, 2010, he moved to Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone. Then, on February 25, 2013, he entered the Pipestone County Hospice House where he died on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the age of 78 years, seven months and 14 days.
Bob was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Holland, Minnesota where he served as a trustee and elder on Church Council. In 2011, he and his family were awarded Farm Family of the Year. He served for six years on Farmer’s Coop Elevator Board in Holland and as a leader in Fountain Prairie 4-H, Farmers Coop, and American Angus Association. He enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family and neighborhood friends.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Janice Schulze of Holland, Minnesota; four children, David and his wife Gail Schulze of Holland, Minnesota, Rodney and his wife Linda Schulze of Holland, Minnesota, Jeffrey and his wife Elizabeth Schulze of St. Cloud, Minnesota and Jillene and her husband Richard Johnson of Woodstock, Minnesota; 14 grandchildren, Linzie (Brent) Dagel, Nick Schulze, Casey (Dan) Uilk, Dean (Kristina) Schulze, Devin (Becca) Schulze, Christopher Schulze, Megan, Brandon and Justin Schulze, Brice (fiance, Kaitlyn Peters) Johnson, Trent, Janelle, Jonah and Micah Johnson; eight great-grandchildren, Joseph, Isaac, Hannah and Sarah Dagel, Zachary and JordynBre Schulze, Collin and Kadence Schulze; and one brother, Ronald Schulze of Tyler, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife’s parents, Arnold and Evelyn Raschke; one sister-in-law, Judy Johnson and one nephew, Kyle DeKam.
Memorials are preferred to the Pipestone County Hospice House or St. James Lutheran Church in Holland, Minnesota.
