Robert Severson

ROBERT LEE SEVERSON was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on November 27, 1950 to Bern and Mary Grace Severson and raised in Inwood, Iowa. Bob’s family moved from Inwood to Beaver Creek, Minnesota in 1960. Bob excelled in both football and wrestling in his high school years, graduating in 1969. Bob was trained in auto body mechanics at Mankato Vo-Tech, graduating in 1971. His training prepared him for his lifelong occupation of restoring his many customers’ cars. However, Bob loved his country and served with honor as an investigator and instructor with the 15th MP Brigade in Kaiserslautern, Germany before beginning his chosen profession. Bob retired from Wayne’s Body Shop in 2013 after 38 years. His artistic talent with paints and metals continued as a hobby with his close friends, Eric and Andrew Hoyme of rural Hills, Minnesota, until recently.

On Saturday, November 7, 2015 while surrounded by his family at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage, Bob went to be with his Lord at the age of 64 years, 11 months and 11 days.

Bob was a member of Living Way Church in Sioux Falls. His acceptance of Jesus Christ in October of 1990 began a changed life where his commitment to the Lord became his focus and guiding light. People who have known Bob will remember him for his unwavering faith.

Bob will be remembered by his four children, Scott Severson of Gulf Breeze, Florida, Tia Severson of Titusville, Florida, Abby (Aaron) Moeller of Luverne, Heidi (Skylar) Lidgett of Luverne, and mother of his children, Verla VanSurksum, also of Luverne; four grandchildren, Jordan, Logan, Leah and Caitlynn; mother, Mary Grace Miller of Luverne; three siblings, Carol (David) Farrar of Jasper, Minnesota, Marilyn Nelson of Hills, Minnesota, and Terry (Sandra) Severson of Rochester, Minnesota; his lifelong friends Jim Miller of Bella Vista, Arkansas and prayer partner, Scott Kannenberg of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his father, Bern Severson.
